Jeddah: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain engaged in discussions with Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in preparation for a minister-level meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The dialogue between the two officials focused on bilateral issues and recent regional developments. Both expressed their appreciation for the timely convening of the extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM).
According to United News of Bangladesh, the General Secretariat of the OIC has announced an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, scheduled for Saturday at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah. The meeting will address the rapidly evolving and dangerous developments in the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The urgency of the meeting is underscored by Israel’s recent declaration-recognized as the occupying power-regarding its recognition of the so-called “Somaliland” region as an independent state. This move is perceived as an infringement on Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The primary goal of the meeting is to establish a unified Islamic stance on these developments and to reaffirm strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia, in line with international conventions and the relevant resolutions of the OIC.
