Chattogram: BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury on Friday emphasized the need to reduce the power of the state while empowering the people. He warned that excessive state power can lead to fascism and create difficulties for citizens, stressing the importance of citizen strength.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Amir Khasru made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a ceremonial event organized by the Chattogram Dhormo Ujjwal Parishad at the Siemens Hostel premises of the National Maritime Academy in Chattogram. The event was held on the occasion of the organization’s anniversary.
Amir Khasru highlighted past instances where excessive state power had left citizens captive and pushed the country into a deep crisis. He emphasized that now is the time to reduce state power and strengthen the people. Additionally, he stressed the importance of religious harmony and social unity, advocating for free participation across all societal sectors.
He urged women to take on leadership roles and participate more actively in society, stating that sustainable development and real change require equal participation of women. He concluded by affirming the unity of all people and encouraging them to avoid doubts or conflicts regarding this unity.
Special guests at the event included Captain Ataur Rahman and BNP International Affairs Sub-Committee member Israfil Khasru.
