Panchagarh: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has announced that North Bengal would be transformed into a hub of agro-based industries if his party ascends to power. “North Bengal supplies food and nutrition to the entire country, yet the region has been deliberately neglected,” he declared at a public rally of the ten-party alliance in Panchagarh.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Dr. Rahman emphasized that Jamaat aims to eradicate unemployment in the region, focusing on empowering youths to become skilled contributors to national development. He proposed the reopening of sugar mills to restore jobs and pledged that the party’s strength lies in the people, not in any political ‘card.’
Dr. Rahman also highlighted the party’s commitment to gender equality and national unity, expressing Jamaat’s desire to build Bangladesh as a cohesive family. He assured the audience that Jamaat would stand with the people through all challenges, with plans to transform North Bengal within five years by leveraging the region’s fertile land and industrious populace.
Addressing healthcare concerns, he noted the current lack of medical facilities in North Bengal, which forces many patients to travel long distances for treatment. He promised the establishment of a medical college in every district, including Panchagarh, to improve access to quality healthcare.
Moreover, Dr. Rahman vowed to prevent the misuse of public funds and acknowledged the contributions of freedom fighters, committing to honoring their sacrifices. He concluded with a pledge to work tirelessly for the betterment of the nation, drawing inspiration from the resilience and dedication of the people of North Bengal.
