Narayanganj: BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Sunday concluded the second phase of his election campaign by participating in six rallies over approximately 14 hours, urging voters to support his party’s candidates and alliance partners.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Tarique addressed his final rally at Narayanganj’s Balurmath at around 2:15 am, as confirmed by BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan. He returned to his Gulshan residence at about 3:10 am on Monday after a demanding schedule that took him through Chattogram, Feni, Cumilla, and Narayanganj.
The campaign day began with a major rally at Chattogram’s Polo Ground at approximately 12:30 pm, followed by public meetings at Feni Pilot School ground, Chouddagram School ground, Soagazi Digbaji field, Daudkandi Eidgah ground, and Narayanganj’s Balurmath. In his speeches, Tarique encouraged voters to support BNP and its alliance candidates and shared plans for national rebuilding if elected.
Despite the cold weather, thousands of BNP leaders, activists, and supporters, including many women, gathered for hours to listen to Tarique. During his speeches, he was observed coughing frequently. At the Chouddagram School ground, Tarique mentioned to the crowd that he was suffering from a cold and fever, affecting his ability to speak loudly, and requested that the audience listen quietly and attentively.
Tarique had traveled to Chattogram on Saturday night and stayed at a city hotel. Earlier on Sunday, he engaged with students in a Youth Policy Dialogue, answering questions on policy matters. The first phase of his election campaign had been launched on January 22 from Sylhet’s Alia Madrasah ground, where he addressed seven rallies across different regions.
Tarique is set to virtually address a rally in Noakhali’s Hatiya at 4:00 pm on Monday, seeking votes for BNP candidate Mahbubur Rahman Shamim for Noakhali-6.
