Colombo: Marking a major transformation in Sri Lanka’s vocational education sector, the Government has decided to develop and modernize 25 technical colleges located across all the 25 districts in line with contemporary global standards. These steps were discussed in a special meeting held at the Parliamentary Complex, chaired by the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, along with Deputy Minister of Vocational Education Mr. Nalin Hewage.

According to News.LK, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya emphasized during the meeting that the development initiatives should extend beyond merely providing vocational skills. Deputy Minister of Vocational Education Mr. Nalin Hewage stated that development work at 23 technical colleges could begin shortly to enhance the human resources necessary for national development. He mentioned that the Government plans to involve the Tri-Forces in the construction and modernization activities to leverage their labour contribution and assistance.
