Colombo: The newly renovated Institute of Neurology at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka was officially opened today by Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni. Renovated at a cost of Rs. 99 million, the upgraded facility is expected to strengthen neurological services in the country by enhancing the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles.
According to News.LK, the opening also marked the unveiling of a portrait of the Institute’s founder, Dr. J.B. Peiris, and the official opening of Neurology Wards 62 and 63, which provide a total of 44 beds for patients. Addressing the event, the Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to quality medical services across Sri Lanka.
