Colombo: Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) and Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) were present at the National Day ceremony of the Russian Federation, which took place at the ITC Ratnadipa Hotel in Colombo. The event was held on 10 June, attracting notable figures and dignitaries.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the ceremony was graced by Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment Upali Pannilage, who served as the Chief Guest. The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, His Excellency Levan S. Dzhagaryan, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests upon their arrival at the event.

The ceremony featured several cultural performances and commemorative programmes, contributing to the celebration of the Russian National Day. Attendees included commanders of the tri forces, members of the diplomatic corps, officials from the Russian embassy, and other distinguished invitees.
