Dhaka: A retired police officer was killed after being hit by a speeding unidentified vehicle while crossing a road in the capital’s Bhatara on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Sekandar Ali, 72, who lived in Bashundhara Residential Area.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the victim’s son, Md Rokon Uddin, stated that around 12:30 pm, his father was crossing a road in Bhatara when a speeding unidentified vehicle struck him and fled the spot, leaving him critically injured.
Sekandar Ali was initially taken to Kurmitola General Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at around 4:45 pm. Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue, and the matter has been reported to the concerned police station for necessary legal action.
