Dhaka: Two people were killed and another was injured in an attack by their rival group over establishing supremacy in Debinagar village of Khoksha upazila in Kushtia district early Saturday. The deceased were identified as Faruk Hossain, 40, son of Chand Ali, and Abdul Sheikh, 25, son of Atier Sheikh, both residents of the village.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Molla Zakir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Khoksha Police Station, reported that Salim Hossain and Mintu Chowkidar of Debinagar village had been at loggerheads for a long time over establishing supremacy in the area. As a result of the ongoing enmity, supporters of Mintu, equipped with sharp weapons, stormed Salim Hossain’s house around 1:00 am.

During the confrontation, the assailants attacked three supporters of Salim with sharp weapons, resulting in the immediate deaths of Faruk Hossain and Abdul Sheikh and injuring Mulluk Mandal. The injured individual was taken to Kushtia General Hospital for treatment.

The incident has led to a tense situation in the area. Police are making efforts to apprehend those involved in the attack, as stated by the Officer-in-Charge.
