Dhaka: Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon emphasized that the government remains undeterred by trolling or criticism, maintaining its focus on ensuring quality education for the nation.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Dr Milon addressed these issues during the inauguration ceremony of academic activities at Naogaon University, held at the Naogaon Sadar Upazila Auditorium. He dismissed the notion that trolling could sway the government’s responsibilities, highlighting that no students from prominent institutions were involved in the recent movements, which he attributed to misinformation spread by certain groups.
Reflecting on his previous tenure as state minister for education, Milon asserted his unwavering commitment to his duties, both in the past under former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and currently under Tarique Rahman. He stressed the importance of continuing educational advancements and improving their quality.
The minister also explained the rationale behind delaying the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in Cumilla due to waterlogging, stating it was a humanitarian decision for the benefit of the examinees. He urged media outlets to responsibly prevent the spread of rumors about question paper leaks and criticized misleading social media campaigns regarding the examination system.
Dr Milon celebrated Naogaon University’s establishment as a significant step for higher education, with academic activities commencing with 80 students. He mentioned plans to transition the university to a permanent campus and proposed setting up an international-standard School of Agriculture to address local needs.
The ceremony was chaired by Naogaon University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Hasanath Ali, and attended by other notable figures, including Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives State Minister Mir Shahe Alam and officials from the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Naogaon University, established in 2023, received UGC approval in December 2025 to open two departments: Law, and Accounting and Information Systems. Student admissions for the 2025-26 academic session have concluded, marking the official start of academic activities with Saturday’s event.
