JCD to Remain United Until Awami League Brought to Justice: Rakib

Dhaka: Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) President Rakibul Islam Rakib on Friday declared that JCD and its supporters would maintain their unity until the Awami League is held accountable for its alleged wrongdoings. He delivered this statement while speaking at a rally in the capital’s Jatrabari area, commemorating “July 17 Jatrabari Resistance Day.”

According to United News of Bangladesh, Rakib accused the Awami League of having no agenda other than disseminating falsehoods on social media. He emphasized that until the Awami League is brought to justice for its alleged injustices, the students of the Qawmi madrasas in Jatrabari, local residents, and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) would remain unified in their cause.

Rakib reminisced about the July mass uprising, highlighting the crucial involvement of local residents in the movement’s success. He recounted how he managed to stay safe with the assistance of local people in Jatrabari after sustaining serious injuries during the protests.

He
further noted that the observance of Resistance Day on July 17, along with subsequent programs, has significantly propelled the movement towards its ultimate goal. Rakib claimed that the movement was directed under the guidance of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

The JCD president also mentioned that despite facing attacks on campuses, arrests, and other challenges during the movement, JCD leaders and activists continued their actions through effective coordination. The rally saw participation from local BNP and JCD leaders and activists, residents, and students of Qawmi madrasas.
