Dhaka: Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir announced on Tuesday that the government is prioritizing efforts to drive Bangladesh’s leather, agro-processing, and light engineering sectors towards achieving double-digit growth in the short term.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the minister highlighted these goals while presiding over the 149th board meeting of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) at its conference room. The government is actively working to foster a business-friendly environment to entice new investments, with initiatives underway to streamline the processes of starting and operating businesses. Muktadir assured that the results of these efforts would become apparent within the next two to three months.

The government is committed to economic development, investment generation, and business expansion. The minister emphasized that concrete steps are being taken to create favorable conditions for investment, not just through declarations but through actionable measures.

Efforts are focused on simplifying and accelerating business start-up procedures, making Bangladesh a more appealing destination for both domestic and international investors. Muktadir underscored the importance of providing opportunities for new entrepreneurs and start-ups to penetrate global markets, noting that many of today’s leading exporting companies began as small enterprises.

Support for young entrepreneurs is crucial in establishing connections with international buyers, accessing overseas markets, and building export capabilities. Muktadir pointed out that many new entrepreneurs lack the financial means to conduct market research or establish buyer contacts abroad, necessitating cooperation and assistance.

The EPB is expected to play a significant role in advancing young entrepreneurs and aiding them in their growth journey.
