Dhaka: A suspended accounts officer of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC), Md Nazrul Islam, met a tragic end as he fell from the 7th floor of a residential building in the capital’s Ramna area early Thursday. The incident occurred as he allegedly sought to evade arrest during a police operation.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the 56-year-old lived with his family in Flat B-8 of Rangs Garden Palace on Siddheswari Road. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramna Police Station, Yasin Mia, stated that police had arrived at Nazrul’s residence to execute an arrest warrant issued by the Gazipur District and Sessions Judge’s Court.
Upon sensing the presence of law enforcement, Nazrul reportedly attempted to escape through a small window gate attached to the bedroom of his apartment. Despite repeated warnings from the police, he went ahead with the risky attempt.
