Dhaka: Visa Regional President for Asia Pacific, Stephen Karpin, is set to visit Bangladesh from Monday to Wednesday to explore strategies for advancing digital commerce and reinforcing the country’s digital payments ecosystem. During his three-day visit, Karpin plans to engage with leaders from various sectors, including government, financial institutions, fintech companies, and merchants, as well as other stakeholders in the payments ecosystem.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Karpin will be accompanied by Suresh Sethi, Group Country Manager for India and South Asia at Visa. The discussions during the meetings are expected to center around expanding digital commerce opportunities, enhancing payment security, and supporting the next phase of Bangladesh’s digital transformation. As the Regional President for Asia Pacific, Karpin is responsible for overseeing Visa’s business across the region, which includes guiding the long-term growth strategy, fostering client partnerships, and driving innovation in digital payments, cross-border commerce, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

Visa highlighted that Bangladesh is making significant progress in its digital payments landscape, spurred by an increasing acceptance of digital financial services, the growth of e-commerce, and ongoing investments in financial infrastructure. With consumers and businesses increasingly utilizing digital payment and transaction methods, Bangladesh is evolving into a dynamic growth market within the region. Karpin’s visit underscores Visa’s ongoing commitment to Bangladesh and its efforts to support consumers, businesses, and the broader economy through secure payment technology and partnerships within the financial ecosystem.
