Dhaka: A youth was shot dead by unidentified criminals at a brick kiln in Rupsa upazila of Khulna early Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Fakhrul, 32, son of Momin Uddin of Naihat village in the upazila.

According to United News of Bangladesh, police stated that Fakhrul occasionally worked as a night guard at Rupsa Bricks in Srirampur, which had reportedly been targeted by thieves several times. A group of unidentified assailants entered the premises, shot him in the head, and fled the scene.

Hearing the incident, Fakhrul’s elder brother Farhad rushed to the brick kiln and found him lying there with gunshot wounds. With the help of local residents, Fakhrul was taken to Rupsa Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Rupsa Police Station Abdur Razzak Mir mentioned that police are investigating the incident, although the motive behind the killing could not be determined immediately.
