High Commissioner Rohitha Bogollagama Engages with Bedford School Leadership in Strategic Visit.

Bedford: High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the UK, Rohitha Bogollagama, visited Bedford School, a prestigious boys’ boarding school in Bedford, United Kingdom, on 13 November 2024. The visit was marked by a warm reception from the School Board, including the Governor, Acting Principal, International Director, and Senior Officials from the Regional Education Authority.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, the visit began with an introductory session led by the International Director and the Principal, providing an overview of the school’s history and operations. Senior prefects then guided the High Commissioner on a tour of the school, showcasing various sections and facilities. The highlight of the visit was a discussion centered on a proposed investment to establish an international school in Sri Lanka’s Port City. This initiative aims to cater to the educational needs of children from families residing in Port City and the surrounding region, which is anticipated to attract more internatio
nal professionals to the area, thus fostering the growth and future prosperity of Port City.

The event drew notable attendees, including Lord Naseby PC, a Member of the House of Lords and former Governor of Bedford School, underscoring the significance of the visit. Bedford School has been acknowledged as one of the top six boys’ boarding schools worldwide, achieving a five-star rating in Fortune’s World’s Leading Boarding Schools 2023.
