KANDY: The Jaffna Titans emerged victorious in the inaugural match of Sri Lanka’s T10 Super League, securing an 8-wicket win over the Hambantota Bangla Tigers. The game, held at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium, saw the Titans chase down a target of 106 runs with impressive performances from their players.

According to Sri Lanka Cricket, the standout performance came from 20-year-old off-spinner Treveen Mathew, who claimed four wickets for just 10 runs. His efforts were complemented by English players Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Abell. Kohler-Cadmore remained unbeaten with a rapid 57 runs off 21 balls, while Abell contributed 33 runs off 19 balls. The pair added 75 runs for the second wicket, guiding the Titans to a comfortable victory.

The match also featured an explosive innings from former Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka, who scored 51 runs off just 17 balls, including four fours and five sixes. His partnership with Mohammad Shahzad, who scored 22 runs off 15 balls, provided a 77-run boost for
the Bangla Tigers, setting a target of 106 for 8 in their allotted overs.

The second fixture of the day between the Nuwara Eliya Kings and the Colombo Jaguars was interrupted by rain. The Kings, who were put in to bat, managed to reach 79 for 1 in 6 overs before the match was called off. Opening batsman Avishka Fernando was in fine form, remaining unbeaten with a half-century.
