Algerian Ambassador Distributes Relief Among Flood Victims in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar

Dhaka: Algerian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Abdelouahab Sadani distributed relief supplies among flood-affected and vulnerable families in Satkania upazila of Chattogram on Saturday. Following the relief distribution programme in Chattogram, Ambassador Sadani travelled to the Matarbari area of Cox’s Bazar, where he also distributed relief supplies among families affected by the flooding.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the relief distribution programme was held at Keochia Muzaherul Haque Islamia Dakhil Madrasa in Keochia Union at around 11:30 a.m. The assistance was provided to families facing severe hardship as a result of the recent flooding in the area. During the programme, Ambassador Sadani personally handed over relief bags containing essential supplies to affected residents. He expressed his sympathy and solidarity with the families and emphasised the importance of supporting vulnerable communities during natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.

Ambassador Sadani is regarded as one of the first foreign ambassadors to personally visit the flood-affected areas and distribute relief supplies directly among affected families. His presence on the ground reflected a strong commitment to humanitarian assistance and solidarity with communities facing the consequences of the flooding. According to local representatives, this was also the first time a foreign diplomat had visited Satkania to distribute humanitarian assistance among flood-affected people. The visit was therefore regarded as a significant and encouraging gesture for the local community, said the Embassy.

His visit to both areas demonstrated his commitment to reaching vulnerable communities and providing immediate humanitarian assistance to those in need. Flood-affected residents expressed their sincere appreciation for the Algerian Ambassador’s humanitarian initiative. They said the relief supplies would help them meet their immediate needs and cope with the difficulties caused by the flooding.

The initiative reflected the longstanding friendship between Algeria and Bangladesh and demonstrated Algeria’s humanitarian concern for communities affected by natural disasters in Bangladesh. The programmes concluded with a message of compassion, solidarity and continued support for the flood-affected people of Satkania and Matarbari.
