Colombo: The Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Sergey Viktorov, paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), and the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), at the Ministry of Defence today.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the Deputy Minister and the Defence Secretary welcomed Ambassador Viktorov, and the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere. Discussions centered on strengthening the relations between Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including defence, military training and exchange programs, HADR training and assistance, regional security, and capacity building.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on expanding collaboration and fostering closer engagement between the two countries. Deputy Head of Mission of the Kazakhstan embassy, Mr.
Rustem Jamankulov, was also present at the occasion.
