Dhaka: The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) on Tuesday raised the price of gold in the domestic market, following two consecutive reductions, setting the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 2,21,441 per bhori, inclusive of VAT.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the decision was announced in a morning notice by BAJUS, attributing the adjustment to an increase in the price of pure gold within the local market. The revised rates were implemented from 10 am the same day.

Under the updated pricing structure, 21-carat gold is now priced at Tk 2,11,468 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 1,81,608 per bhori, and traditional gold at Tk 1,48,366 per bhori, all prices inclusive of VAT. BAJUS clarified that these prices will be effective across all jewellery outlets until further notice, with additional charges applicable based on ornamental design. Since VAT is incorporated into the sale price of gold and silver ornaments, jewellers are prohibited from charging it separately from customers.

The association also reiterated that its current rules concerning ornament exchange and repurchase, excluding specified VAT, making charges, and the value of stones, will remain unchanged. The last adjustment by BAJUS was on July 14, when the price of 22-carat gold, including VAT, was reduced by Tk 2,158 to Tk 2,19,808 per bhori.

In 2026, the domestic gold prices have undergone 92 revisions, with increases on 44 occasions, decreases on 47 occasions, and one adjustment for VAT. Despite the increase in gold prices, silver prices have remained stable. Presently, 22-carat silver is priced at Tk 4,607 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk 4,374, 18-carat at Tk 3,791, and traditional silver at Tk 2,858 per bhori.
