Bangladeshi National Killed by BSF at Moulvibazar Border

Moulvibazar: A Bangladeshi national was shot to death by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) along the Kulaura border in Moulvibazar district early Sunday. The deceased was identified as Tara Mia, son of Abdul Malek of Murai Chhara Basti area of Kulaura upazila.

According to United News of Bangladesh, locals reported that a group of 4-5 alleged smugglers illegally crossed into Indian territory through the Alinagar border of Prithimpasha union, approximately 500 yards beyond border pillar No. 1845/63-S in the Maguruli area. They were reportedly assisted by Indian smugglers to bring in contraband goods.

BSF members opened fire on the group during a confrontation, resulting in the death of Tara Mia on the spot. The remaining individuals managed to flee the scene.

Lt Col Sarkar Asif Mahmud, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 46 Battalion in Sreemangal, stated that they are taking necessary steps to gather further information regarding the incident.
