Khilgaon: A 45-year-old bank official’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his apartment in Khilgaon area of the capital on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Shahanur Rahman, son of Abdur Rahman of Bil Gazaria village in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari district. He was a senior official of Sonali Bank’s Motijheel branch.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the victim’s brother, Mostafizur Rahman, stated that Shahanur had been suffering from mental depression for several days due to family-related issues. ‘He returned home in the evening without informing anyone and locked himself inside. When there was no response after some time, family members broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling fan with his trousers wrapped around his neck,’ he said.

Family members rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 8:45pm, where doctors on duty at the emergency department declared him dead. Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the body was kept at the hospital’s morgue and the matter had been reported to Khilgaon Police Station.
