Dhaka: The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a notable adjustment in the pricing of Jet A-1 aviation fuel, specifically affecting domestic flights. The new rate is set at Tk 159.52 per litre, rising from the previous Tk 130.99, marking an increase of nearly 23%.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the price adjustment for international flights has also been confirmed, with the rate now established at $1.0358 per litre, up from $0.8556. These revised prices are scheduled to take effect from midnight on Sunday, as per a BERC order issued on August 9.

The commission’s decision was informed by a comprehensive review process, which included the average published Platts rate for Jet A-1 from July 5 to August 4, 2026. Additionally, the US dollar exchange rate used by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) for letter of credit settlements and fluctuations in diesel prices were considered. For domestic flights, the set price of Jet A-1 includes customs duties and VAT, whereas for i
nternational flights, the price excludes these charges.

The decision followed a hearing conducted by the commission on Sunday, where a detailed report was presented. BERC stated that the price adjustment of Jet A-1 was based on a thorough analysis of market conditions and cost factors. The newly revised rates will be applicable for August 2026, unless the commission decides on further adjustments.
