Bhutan Among Eligible Countries as Bangladesh Resumes Visa-On-Arrival Facility

Dhaka: The government of Bangladesh will now continue to extend the ‘visa-on-arrival’ facility to all eligible countries, including Bhutan.

According to United News of Bangladesh, this development follows a prior notification regarding the ‘suspension’ of the ‘visa-on-arrival’ facility by the government of Bangladesh from January 15 to February 15. The Bhutanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade recently informed the public that Bangladesh’s Embassy in Thimphu has communicated this continuation of the facility.

Bhutanese passport holders traveling to Bangladesh can avail themselves of the ‘visa-on-arrival’ facility, provided they carry details of accommodation in Bangladesh and a return air ticket, as per a notification from the Bhutanese Ministry.

Election observers and military and security personnel planning to visit Bangladesh are required to contact the Embassy of Bangladesh in Thimphu to complete necessary formalities prior to travel. The Bhutanese Ministry advises all travelers to take note of this update and make necessary arrangements well in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain stated, “We are not stopping the issuance of visas. Those who wish to come may apply for visas, and we will issue them as long as their purpose is valid.” He further mentioned, “During the election period, there may be attempts to create unexpected situations. Some unwanted individuals may try to enter the country suddenly.”
