Trincomalee: The traditional Commissioning Ball for the newly commissioned officers of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) was attended by Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), who served as the chief guest at the SLAF Academy China Bay. The event took place last evening, marking a significant milestone for the new officers entering national service.
According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the ceremony was characterized by military precision and ceremonial grandeur. It provided an opportunity for the officers to share camaraderie and celebrate their achievements. The Defence Secretary received a warm welcome from Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, highlighting the significance of the event.
A notable moment of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Sword of Honour Trophy, awarded for outstanding leadership and performance among the newly commissioned officers. The event was also graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor of KDU, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, along with senior SLAF officers and the newly commissioned officers, adding to the ceremony’s importance.
