Adana: The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara actively participated in the 13th International Orange Blossom Festival, a three-day event held in Adana in April. The Embassy showcased a vibrant cultural stall themed ‘Children of the World’, which celebrated Sri Lankan heritage with a special emphasis on children and youth.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, the festival, set in the picturesque Atatrk Park in Adana, attracted over 200,000 visitors from both Trkiye and abroad. The Sri Lankan stall alone welcomed more than 15,000 visitors, drawing people of all ages, particularly children, with its colorful display of traditional Sri Lankan art, crafts, and visuals. This exhibit offered a unique glimpse into Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage, providing an engaging experience of the island nation’s hospitality and traditions.
In addition to the cultural exhibits, the stall offered Ceylon tea to guests, allowing them to savor the island’s renowned beverage. This initiative not only enhanced the cu
ltural experience but also promoted Sri Lanka’s famous tea industry.
The Embassy’s participation in this internationally recognized festival presented an invaluable opportunity to foster cultural diplomacy, strengthen people-to-people connections, and highlight Sri Lanka’s distinct identity to a global audience. The Sri Lankan delegation was represented by the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy, Nilusha Dilmini; Consular Officer, Niranjala Nawarathne; and staff member, Sampath Prasad, with support from Honorary Consul for Sri Lanka in the Mediterranean Region, Adana, Besir Ugur.
