Dhaka: Police have recovered the body of a farmer from the Sati River in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat. The deceased was identified as Shishu Barman (50), son of Tarek Nath Chandra of Harram area of the upazila.

According to United News of Bangladesh, locals reported that Shishu Barman left his house on Friday morning to plant rice seedlings and did not return home. Family members searched for him in various places but could not find him. On Saturday morning, villagers noticed a body floating in the Sati River in Harram Purbapara village and informed the police. Subsequently, Kaliganj police arrived at the scene and recovered the body.

Local UP member Sohel Rana stated that Shishu Barman had been missing since Friday morning. On Saturday morning, locals informed the police after discovering his body in the river. There is a belief among locals that Shishu Barman may have drowned while attempting to cross the river.

Kaliganj Police Station OC (Investigation) Osman Gani confirmed that the police acted on information from the locals and recovered the body. Since the family did not file a complaint, the body was returned to them after discussions with the local community.
