Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Expected Across Several Districts


Colombo: The low-level atmospheric disturbance currently positioned to the southeast of the island is set to bring significant weather changes across various regions. Showers are anticipated at intervals in the Eastern and Uva provinces, as well as in the Nuwara-Eliya, Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Mullaittivu districts. Some areas in the Eastern province and in Nuwara-Eliya, Matale, Badulla, Polonnaruwa, and Mullaittivu districts may experience fairly heavy rainfall, exceeding 50 mm.

According to News.LK, several spells of showers are also expected in the Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Kilinochchi, and Vavuniya districts. The Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with the Galle and Matara districts, might witness showers or thundershowers in select locations post 2:00 p.m.

Additionally, strong winds reaching up to 50 kmph are anticipated over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-central, North-western, and Eastern provinces, and in the Hambantota, Gampaha, Colombo, and Monaragal
