HL-FRAC Meeting Reviews Coordination of Foreign Relief Aid at Parliament Complex


Colombo: The High-Level Committee for Foreign Relief Aid (Supplies) Coordination (HL-FRAC) held its latest session this week at the Parliament Complex, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd). The primary focus of the meeting was to assess the coordination of foreign relief assistance and to implement measures that ensure complete transparency and operational efficiency in all relief initiatives.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the committee deliberated on strategies for the systematic, transparent, and equitable allocation and distribution of aid. The discussions emphasized ensuring that aid reaches the intended communities and enhancing the management of future supply needs.

The Deputy Minister of Defence highlighted the necessity for coordinated action and stressed the importance of effective collaboration among relevant institutions to maximize the utilization of foreign relief aid. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to enhancing relief coord
ination frameworks to guarantee efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness in all delivery efforts. Additionally, he instructed the committee to promptly submit all necessary reports and details to the Presidential Secretariat.

The meeting was attended by committee members, senior officials of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), the office of the Deputy Minister of Defence, and representatives from the Presidential Secretariat and Sri Lanka Customs.
