Dhaka: The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has warned the public against fraudsters posing as its officials and promising visas or other consular services in exchange for money.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the High Commission has received complaints that fraudsters are contacting people while falsely identifying themselves as officials of the mission and making such offers. The High Commission clarified that none of its officials will contact anyone over the phone, WhatsApp, social media, or email to offer visas or demand money for issuing visas or providing consular services.

“All visa applications are processed strictly according to the prescribed procedures,” the High Commission stated. It advised people who receive such calls, messages, or offers not to make any payment or share personal or financial information.

The mission also urged victims or potential victims to immediately report such incidents to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka through email at [email protected]. It asked people to provide relevant information, including the caller’s phone number, screenshots, and other details, when reporting the incidents.

The High Commission urged the public to remain vigilant and help raise awareness to protect others from such fraudulent activities.
