Indonesian High Commissioner Engages in Defence Dialogue with Sri Lankan Deputy Minister


Colombo: High Commissioner of Indonesia in Colombo, Her Excellency Mrs. Dewi Gustina Tobing, made a courtesy visit to the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), at his office in Colombo today.



According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, during the meeting, both dignitaries engaged in a productive discussion on matters of mutual interest, with a particular focus on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and Indonesia. They exchanged views on regional security dynamics, collaborative training opportunities, and enhancing defence-related engagements. Further discussions included shared priorities of the two governments, particularly Indonesia’s commitment to anti-corruption policies.



The Deputy Minister conveyed his appreciation for the longstanding friendship between the two nations, highlighting the importance of deepening ties in defence and security to address common challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. He acknowledged Indonesia’s pivotal role in promoting regional stability and its active contributions to multilateral forums.



High Commissioner Tobing reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing defence relations and expressed her confidence in expanding cooperation through joint initiatives, capacity-building programs, and information sharing. She also highlighted potential opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, trade, investment, and industrial developments.



The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their desire to continue high-level exchanges and explore new avenues for defence collaboration, reflecting the robust and growing partnership between Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
