Dhaka: Jagannath Hall clinched the men’s title while Ruqayyah Hall emerged champions in the women’s category of the Dhaka University Inter-Hall Handball Competition. The event concluded with an exciting display of skill and teamwork, showcasing the talent within the university.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall finished runners-up in the men’s category, while Shamsun Nahar Hall secured the runners-up position in the women’s category. The competition saw impressive performances from individual players, highlighting the competitive spirit of the university athletes.
In the men’s category, standout player Manik Hasan Mir of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall was named the top scorer, achieving an impressive 24 goals. Md Monayem Biswas of Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall earned the title of best goalkeeper, while Gathi Dard of Jagannath Hall was recognized as the best player for his exceptional performance throughout the tournament.
The women’s category also witnessed remarkable achievements with Ruqayyah Hall’s Ishrat Jahan emerging as the top scorer with 22 goals. Tithi Rani was honored as the best goalkeeper, while Lamia Akter Lima of Shamsun Nahar Hall was adjudged the best player, showcasing her skills and determination.
Following the competition, a prize-giving ceremony was held at the Physical Education Centre. Prof Dr Md Shariful Islam, president of the Dhaka University Handball Committee, chaired the programme. Other dignitaries included Prof Dr S M Mostafa Al Mamun, adviser to the Physical Education Centre, officials of the centre, DUCSU leaders, as well as teachers and students from different halls, who gathered to celebrate the achievements of the participants.
