Colombo: President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has left the island on an official visit to Vietnam. Accordingly, the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Defence.
According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, this appointment comes as President Dissanayake embarks on his diplomatic mission, ensuring that the responsibilities of the Defence Ministry are managed without interruption. Major General Jayasekara, who has served as the Deputy Minister, will temporarily take on the duties and responsibilities of the Defence Ministry during the President’s absence.
