Man Electrocuted While Attempting to Help in Chattogram Fire

Chattogram: A 55-year-old man named Md Jamal Uddin was tragically electrocuted at Ward No. 9 of the South Taylordwip area under Barkhain Union in Anwara Upazila of Chattogram while attempting to assist in extinguishing a fire early Sunday. Jamal Uddin was a former member of the upazila unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident occurred after a fire broke out at the house of Jamal’s cousin, Md Mujib, due to an electrical short circuit. Upon hearing about the fire, Jamal rushed to the scene to offer assistance. In his efforts, he attempted to switch off the electrical line connected to his house’s instant power supply (IPS) system. Unfortunately, he suffered an electric shock and fell to the ground.

Despite immediate efforts to help him, Jamal Uddin succumbed to his injuries before reaching a hospital. Md Junayet Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Anwara Police Station, stated that legal proceedings are currently underway to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
