Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte: Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya (Retd) has officially taken over as the Chief of National Intelligence, marking a significant transition in the nation’s intelligence leadership. The appointment was formalized when Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) presented Major General Wanigasooriya with his letter of appointment.
According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the newly appointed Chief of National Intelligence assumed his responsibilities at the Defence Ministry’s office. This change in leadership is expected to influence the strategic direction and operational priorities of the intelligence community within the country. Major General Wanigasooriya brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served in various capacities within the defense sector.
