Dhaka: Pakistani High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider and his spouse have been hospitalised as a precautionary measure after a fire broke out at the envoy’s official residence early Thursday.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the fire originated from the TV room of the residence at approximately 5:00 am. Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector at the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters, stated that two firefighting units from the Baridhara Fire Station swiftly responded and managed to bring the situation under control within 10 minutes.

The Pakistani High Commission confirmed that the envoy and his wife were taken to the hospital following the incident as a precautionary step. It was reported that their health condition remains stable.
