Dhaka: River ports in several regions have been instructed to hoist cautionary signal No 1 due to the likelihood of rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary south or southeasterly gusty or squally winds. This announcement comes as a precautionary measure to ensure safety in many parts of the country.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued a special bulletin highlighting the weather conditions expected to occur. The bulletin specifies that the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet are likely to experience wind speeds ranging from 45 to 60 kph. Consequently, river ports in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions by hoisting cautionary signal No 1.
The warning for inland river ports will remain effective until 1 pm on Saturday, as stated in the bulletin. This measure aims to ensure the safety and preparedness of the regions likely to be affected by the adverse weather conditions.
