Seven Killed, 25 Injured as Bus Ploughs Into Day Labourers in Bogura


Bogura: Seven people were killed and at least 25 others injured after a bus ploughed into day labourers standing by the road in the Erulia Silkibandha area of Bogura Sadar upazila on Friday morning. Four of the deceased were identified as Tajmul, 45, from Joypurhat, Belal from Fapore union of Bogura Sadar upazila, and Amirul and Nur Alam from Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bogura Sadar Police Station Ibrahim Ali reported that the bus was travelling from Dhaka to Naogaon when it lost control and struck an electric pole by the Bogura-Naogaon highway around 5:30 am. Subsequently, the vehicle crashed into the group of day labourers, resulting in the fatalities and injuries.



The OC confirmed that the injured individuals were rescued and transported to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for treatment. Additionally, the bodies of the deceased were sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy procedures. A significant crowd gathered at the accident site, leading to severe traffic congestion in the area.
