Hanoi: The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), organized a tourism promotional event at the Ambassador’s Residence on 30 October. Designed to target the Vietnamese market, the event attracted over 30 participants, including Vietnamese media, travel agents, and representatives from the tourism industry such as members of the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) and the Vietnam Society of Travel Agents (VISTA).
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, the event featured Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Poshitha Perera, who highlighted the country’s unique tourist attractions. The presentation aimed to appeal to the Vietnamese market by showcasing tourism promotional videos and messages from Chairman of SLTPB, Buddhika Hewawasam, and President of the Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL), Shanthikumar, with Vietnamese translations. The event also included testimonials from participants of a previous Vietnam familiarization
tour, followed by an interactive Q and A session.
Vietnam’s market, with a population exceeding a hundred million and a burgeoning middle-income group, provides a lucrative opportunity for Sri Lankan tourism. The previous year recorded approximately five million outbound tourists from Vietnam, indicating the potential for Sri Lanka to emerge as a popular destination for Vietnamese travelers. The evening concluded with guests enjoying authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, offering them a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage.
