Sri lanka: The Sri Lanka Navy has actively joined the nationwide dengue prevention campaign by conducting special cleaning programmes across the island.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the Navy has launched these special programmes as part of the coordinated dengue prevention campaign initiated by the Tri-Forces on the morning of 04 July. Naval Commands have implemented these programmes across their respective Areas of Responsibility (AORs).

Naval personnel from various commands, including the Western Naval Command in Colombo, Northern Naval Command in Kankasanthurai, Southern Naval Command in Galle, North Western Naval Command in Kalpitiya, and North Central Naval Command in Talaimannar, have conducted community-based dengue prevention programmes within their respective areas.

The focus was on reducing the risk of dengue transmission by identifying and eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites. Personnel removed stagnant water collection points and cleared mosquito breeding grounds in public areas, such as along main roads, within residential premises, schools, and public marketplaces. They also cleaned blocked drainage systems, rooftops, and surrounding public spaces, significantly contributing to a cleaner environment and reinforcing ongoing national efforts to curb the spread of dengue.
