New delhi: The Sri Lankan Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), who is currently visiting India for the 5th BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs’ Meeting, held discussions with the Secretary General of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey, in New Delhi.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the meeting was marked by an exchange of views on enhancing regional security cooperation and the need for strengthened collaboration among BIMSTEC member states to tackle emerging security challenges. They emphasized BIMSTEC’s role in fostering peace, stability, and sustainable development across the Bay of Bengal region.
