Sri Lankan Embassy In Bahrain Launches Free Health Check-Up Campaign For Nationals.


Manama: The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bahrain, in collaboration with Al Hilal Healthcare Center, has initiated a month-long free medical check-up campaign for the Sri Lankan community residing in Bahrain. This initiative, launched on 31 October 2024, aims to enhance health awareness among Sri Lankan nationals in Bahrain by offering them access to essential health screenings and consultations at no cost throughout November.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, the free health check-up package includes vital assessments such as blood pressure measurement, body mass index (BMI) assessment, blood sugar and cholesterol screening, liver and kidney function tests, along with complimentary consultations with general practitioners and specialists. Additionally, the Al Hilal Medical Center’s Manama Central Branch is providing a special eye vision check-up for Sri Lankan students, including those attending the Sri Lankan School in Bahrain. An ophthalmologist will be available from 01 to 30 November 2024
to conduct eye examinations, addressing vision-related concerns among students.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H. M. G. R. R. K. Wijeratne Mendis, and CEO of Al Hilal Healthcare Group, Dr. Sharath Chandran, as guests of honour. Ambassador Wijeratne Mendis underscored the significance of proactive healthcare and expressed her appreciation to Al Hilal Medical Center for their support in this vital initiative. She also highlighted the Sri Lankan President’s commitment to a progressive social welfare vision, focusing on empowering women-led families and supporting migrant workers, recognizing their crucial roles in the socio-economic framework of the country.
