SUST Admission Test Results Announced: Over 40,000 Candidates on Merit List


Sylhet: The results of the first-year undergraduate admission test for Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) for the 2025-26 academic year have been published. A total of 40,390 candidates have been successfully placed on the merit list across five sub-units under two main units, as announced by Professor Mohammad Selim, member secretary of the SUST admission committee.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the Unit A-1 saw a participation of 42,600 examinees, out of which 29,737 candidates were placed on the merit list. The highest score achieved in this unit was 96.6 percent, while the lowest score was 40 percent. In Unit A-2, 924 candidates took the test, with 178 securing positions on the merit list.



Within Unit B, the science branch had 4,938 out of 8,553 examinees placed on the merit list. The highest and lowest scores in this branch were 79.6 percent and 40 percent respectively. In the humanities branch of Unit B, 4,628 candidates were placed on the merit list from among 7,931 examinees, with the highest score being 82 percent and the lowest at 40 percent. On the other hand, in the commerce branch of Unit B, 909 out of 1,778 candidates secured places on the merit list, achieving a highest score of 78.4 percent and a lowest of 40.02 percent.



Professor Selim also highlighted the top scorers in each unit. Naqib Mukarram topped Unit A-1, while Plabon Das attained the highest score in Unit A-2. In Unit B, Zarin Sobha Alam led the science branch, Farhan Saeed Kolpo topped the humanities branch, and Parthib Roy excelled in the commerce branch. The university authorities have stated that the admission process schedule will be finalized at the upcoming Academic Council meeting, which is expected to take place on January 28, 2026.
