Sylhet: BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman visited the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) in Sylhet on Wednesday night. The visit marks the beginning of his election campaign for the 13th national parliamentary election.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman arrived at the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) at approximately 8:45 pm. He offered two rakats of Nafl prayers beside the shrine, as confirmed by BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan. By 9:30 pm, he had also visited the grave of late General (retd) MAG Osmani, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Army. At the grave, he offered Fateha and prayed for the departed soul, with the munajat led by Islami Oikya Jote Chairman MA Rakib.

Tarique Rahman’s wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, accompanied him and also offered munajat at the women’s prayer area of the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA). Following this, the BNP chairman traveled by road to the shrine of Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) at Khadim Nagar, located about eight kilomet
ers from Sylhet city.

Earlier that evening, Tarique Rahman and Dr Zubaida Rahman departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Sylhet on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at around 7:20 pm, arriving at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet at approximately 8:04 pm. This visit to Sylhet formally kicks off his party’s election campaign, with plans to address seven rallies on Thursday.

Sayrul Kabir Khan noted that Tarique will begin his campaign in Sylhet, known as the land of saints, and is set to deliver speeches at seven public rallies across six districts. During these rallies, the BNP chairman is expected to outline his party’s election promises, political priorities, and plans to restore democracy, ensure good governance, and address the people’s issues.

Meanwhile, party leaders and activists have made all necessary preparations to ensure the smooth execution of the rallies and campaign activities.
