Baku:A media briefing at the Department of Government Information emphasized the need for taxpayers to submit their annual income tax returns for the 2025/2026 assessment year by November 30, 2026.
According to News.LK, Deputy Commissioner General J.M.S.S. Ratnawardhana announced that the online submission of income tax returns has been available since July 1, 2026.
Nearly 1.2 million individuals are registered with the Inland Revenue Department for tax purposes. Taxpayers are encouraged to file their returns early to avoid the rush and potential issues close to the deadline. Ratnawardhana also highlighted that even those whose taxes are deducted at source, such as from salaries or bank interest, might still need to file returns.
Failure to comply with the submission deadline could result in penalties, legal action, or additional tax assessments. Taxpayers are therefore urged to ensure timely submission to avoid these consequences.
