Three-Day ‘Art for Equality’ Exhibition Kicks Off at DU


Dhaka: A three-day art exhibition titled ‘Art for Equality’ commenced at the University of Dhaka, showcasing 90 artworks by teachers, students, and renowned artists from nine universities. Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, inaugurated the event, with Dr. Shake Manir Uddin, Curator of the exhibition and Chairman of the Department of Art History, presiding over the occasion.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the exhibition was organized under the supervision of the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Fine Art at the University of Dhaka. It features a diverse collection of artworks created by faculty members, students, and both young and renowned artists from nine public and private universities.



The exhibition will remain open from January 21 to 23, daily from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm. Additionally, three separate day-long thematic seminars are scheduled with the participation of faculty members, students, artists, and researchers from various university departments on Thursday.



The event saw the presence of several special guests, including Joris van Bommel, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bangladesh, Shabnam Mustari, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Professor Dr. Md. Abdus Sattar, Professor, Department of Oriental Art, DU, Professor AAM Kaoser Hassan, Acting Dean, Faculty of Fine Art, DU, Kabita Bose, Country Director, Plan International Bangladesh, and Korvi Rakshand, Chairman, JAAGO Foundation Trust.



Earlier, a two-day art workshop was held on November 14-15, 2025, with participation from 90 teachers, students, young artists, and renowned artists from the participating institutions. These institutions include Dhaka University, Jagannath University, Jahangirnagar University, Khulna University, Rajshahi University, Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, Dhaka Art College, Narayanganj Fine Art Institute, and Jessore SM Sultan Art College.
