Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Meets Tamil Nadu Governor to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation


Chennai: The newly appointed Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Southern India, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, recently paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Tamil Nadu, R. N. Ravi, at Raj Bhavan. The meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, aimed to strengthen cooperation between Sri Lanka and India, focusing on opportunities in education, industry, and healthcare.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, Dr. Geathiswaran briefed the Governor on Sri Lanka’s recent positive developments under the new government. He expressed his commitment to promoting investment and trade linkages and encouraged academic collaborations between the educational institutions of both countries.

The Governor reiterated the longstanding and friendly relations between India and Sri Lanka and noted the vast potential for further collaboration. He highlighted the educational and industrial strengths of Tamil Nadu and other southern states, emphasizing opportunities in the medical sector, especially medical equipm
ent manufacturing, where India’s private sector has demonstrated remarkable progress and areas from which Sri Lanka could also benefit.

Following the discussion, the Deputy High Commissioner signed the Guest Book at the Governor’s Office.
