Colombo: In a swift and coordinated joint operation, the Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard successfully controlled a fuel spill off the coast of Colombo. The incident, caused by a sudden leak in a fuel buoy near the Colombo Port, was contained through the immediate response.
According to Ministry of Defence, upon notification from the Ports Authority, the Navy promptly deployed three Fast Attack Craft. These units, alongside the Coast Guard Ship Samaraksha, effectively worked to control the spill. The operation was conducted with the expert assistance of the Marine Environmental Protection Authority and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
