Dhaka: A Dhaka court has acquitted BNP leader Ruhul Kuddus Talukdar Dulu in a tax evasion case. Judge Rabiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 passed the order during a hearing where Dulu, a former central organising secretary of the BNP, was present.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the case was filed by Hafiz Al Asad, an assistant tax commissioner of the National Revenue Board (NBR), on August 3, 2008. Dulu was accused of evading Tk10 lakh in income tax against declared earnings of Tk2.34 crore since 1983.

Following the filing of the case, Dulu challenged its validity by petitioning the High Court, which has now resulted in his acquittal.
