Patuakhali: Medical equipment were gutted in a fire that broke out at the storeroom of Galachipa Upazila Health Complex in Patuakhali early Thursday. The fire erupted at a storeroom on the second floor of the health complex around 5 am and quickly spread through the area.

According to United News of Bangladesh, two firefighting units arrived at the scene and managed to put out the blaze after two hours of intense efforts. Fortunately, all patients were evacuated safely, and no casualties were reported.

The fire resulted in the destruction of valuable items including medicines, documents, surgical equipment, computers, and other essential equipment, as confirmed by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md Mezbah Uddin. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, and the extent of the losses is yet to be determined.
